British horror actress Ayvianna Snow has launched a new production company, Snow Pictures, with her latest feature, The Nice Ones, marking a new chapter in her filmmaking career.

A familiar face on the independent horror scene, Snow has built an extensive acting career across genre productions including How to Kill Monsters, Bogieville and Video Shop Tales of Terror. Readers may remember our interview with Ayvianna Snow about her career in British independent horror. Her move into producing gives her an opportunity to develop projects beyond her work in front of the camera.

The Nice Ones: paranoia in the countryside

Written and directed by Peter Stylianou, whose previous credits include the vampire horror Drained, The Nice Ones is a psychological science-fiction horror feature following Kate, a young woman whose countryside getaway takes a terrifying turn when mysterious lights appear in the night sky. As the behaviour of those around her becomes increasingly unsettling, Kate begins to suspect that something far more sinister is taking place.

Drawing inspiration from classics such as The Thing and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the film explores paranoia, identity and the fear that familiar faces may conceal something altogether inhuman. Its ensemble cast includes Joelle Rae, Emrhys Cooper, Donna Preston, Ian Whyte and Snow herself.

Ayvianna Snow’s next chapter with Snow Pictures

The launch of Snow Pictures is a welcome development for British independent horror. Snow received the British Horror Studio’s British Indie Horror Artist of the Year honour, with her award presentation covered in our Romford Horror Film Festival report. Her decision to establish a production company builds upon that sustained involvement in the genre.

In the announcement of Snow Pictures’ launch, Snow expressed her ambition to bring female-led horror to the screen. The company offers a means of pursuing that ambition through projects she can help develop and produce.

With The Nice Ones marking the beginning of this venture, Snow Pictures adds another actor-led company to Britain’s independent filmmaking community. For Snow, it represents an opportunity to build upon her screen experience while taking a more active role in shaping the films themselves.

Our sister publication, the British Horror Chronicle, has also reported on Snow’s recognition within the British Horror Studio’s inaugural awards season.
