Rising horror star Megan Tremethick has achieved viral breakthrough success with the release of the teaser trailer for her upcoming directorial debut, Spoiling You, in which she also stars.

The ASMR-based sensory horror premiered via an exclusive release with Bloody Disgusting and has since surpassed one million views across social media in just 48 hours. As of today, a single post sharing the trailer on X through the Bloody Disgusting article has already accumulated more than 950,000 views, signalling remarkable momentum for an independent horror production.

The release has also prompted fellow creatives and pop culture commentators to produce reaction videos, further amplifying the trailer’s reach and cementing its unexpected viral impact.

Spoiling You follows ASMR content creator Miss Mutter, who awards her competition-winning “biggest fan”, Drew (played by Stephen Kerr of The Reign of Queen Ginnarra and In the Grip of Terror), the prize of spending a full day with his idol for a very private ASMR session. However, he will not be alone. Drew finds himself joined by a cast of unsettling characters, including a particularly memorable presence portrayed by Laurence R. Harvey of The Human Centipede fame.

Drawing inspiration from early noughties J-Horror classics such as Kairo (directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa) and Audition (directed by Takashi Miike), while blending the contemporary cultural phenomenon of ASMR, Megan Tremethick has accomplished a rare feat for an independent filmmaker: generating mainstream online attention for a concept-driven horror film that leans into atmosphere and psychological unease.

Previously, Spoiling You broke records on Kickstarter, raising the highest amount ever achieved by a female horror filmmaker at the time of its campaign.

Megan Tremethick, who previously won the British Horror Studio Popular Award for Best Actress of the Year, has three films set for release this year, including Black Chariot (directed by Lawrie Brewster) and Mr Whispers (co-directed by Dorian Todd, Oliver Revie and Seamus MacNeil). Often described as the “Vivien Leigh of indie horror” for her intense theatrical performances and vintage glamour, Tremethick’s profile within British horror continues to rise at pace.

Spoiling You is set to premiere at the Romford Horror Festival on the 21st of February 2026, screening alongside Black Chariot and Mr Whispers, with Megan Tremethick scheduled to attend in person.

With viral success, festival premieres, and three feature films arriving in the same year, Megan Tremethick is firmly establishing herself as one of the most compelling and closely watched talents currently working in British horror.
